Leviathan
directed by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel, USA 2013, 87'
Castaing-Taylor and Paravel, filmmakers–researchers, placed small GoPro cameras in various places on a fishing vessel, as well as on their own bodies and in the water, creating the most original documentary of recent years, blurring the boundaries between the creator and the viewer. Night-time fishing is a spectacular example of sensory ethnography, a visual practice of social science that affects our senses.
