Apparatus 22 (Erika Olea & Dragos Olea) (Romania/Belgium/Italy)

Apparatus 22

is a multidisciplinary art collective found in January 2011 by its current members Erika Olea, Maria Farcas, Dragos Olea and late artist Ioana Nemes. Apparatus 22 works with ideas and actions which awaken the critical potential which lies in clothing and fashion.

The collective was started after a period of confusion and exploration following the members' work as part of the progressive fashion label Rozalb de Mura (2006–2010). Departing from their previous experiences in the world of fashion and trying to escape its bounds, they shifted their perspective and started to work in the more inclusive realm of art, creating projects in which they mix reality with fiction, storytelling with a critical approach and in which they utilize their knowledge and experience in design, sociology, literature and economics.

After taking part in exhibitions and art festivals at MUMOK, Viena (AT), The Contemporary Art Gallery, Brukenthal Museum, Sibiu (RO), MAK, Vienna (AT), Steirischer Herbst, Graz (AT), Museion Bolzano (IT), Gyeonggi Creation Center (KR) and Drodesera Festival, Dro (IT), The Young Artists Biennial, Bucharest (RO), the collective is now preparing works for exhibitions at Mackintosh Museum, Glasgow (UK), TIME MACHINE BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART, Konjic (BIH) etc.
