residency: August–October 2013

Kunstverein Zürich (Switzerland)

  • Kunstverein Zürich
    • was established by Nele Dechmann and Nicola Ruffo in 2010 as a residence programme and off-space "Wäscherei" (former laundry). The programme of exhibitions, meetings with artists and specialists, shows, concerts and publications aims at building a dialogue and cooperation reaching beyond the boundaries of art disciplines, as well as geographical and ideological boundaries. This year Kunstverein Zürich has set out on a journey. Like within the space of the "Wäscherei" in Zurich the curators are preparing a programme of art events in various spaces which normally are not used for cultural purposes and concurrently reference to the nature and history of those places.
      • The Learning from Warsaw project, implemented by the Artists-in-Residence Laboratory and Kunstverein Zürich opens a new experimental institution–in–residence model of art residence which not only involves artists and curators, but institutions and cultural spaces understood as independent entities defined by the specificity of the given programme.
