Zhanna Kadyrova (Ukraine)

Zhanna Kadyrova

(born 1981 in Brovary) – co-founder of the R.E.P. (Revolutionary Experimental Space) collective and member of the music band Penoplast. Nominated for the Pinchuk Art Prize for young Ukrainian artists in 2009, winner of the competition’s Special Prize in 2011 and Malewicz Award in 2012. Lives and works in Kiev. Zhanna Kadyrova works in numerous media: video, installation, action as well as painting, drawing and sculpture. The city is a frequent theme of her practice. Kadyrova rediscovers usually unnoticed elements of public space, redefining their usefulness and, at the same time, drawing our attention to how architecture determines the way we move around the city.

Residency is realized in collaboration with Polish Culture Institute Kiev and Adam Mickiewicz Institute and has been possible thanks to financial support of the City of Warsaw.
