Series of meetings, workshops, "storytellers jam"

How to tell an exhibition, from a visual object to a literary performance

A new series of workshops and meetings addressed to young people and adults (16 and up), scheduled for Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., conducted in parallel and with reference to the performative program (which includes exhibitions) of Ujazdowski. The meetings and workshops will be led by educators of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, but the main role will be played by specially invited artists: educators, storytellers, exhibition guides. And the participants, directly through observation and exercises, will learn what creative storytelling is.

The first three meetings and the highlight of the program the “jam sessions will be held in conjunction with Alex Cechetti's project and exhibition Tamam Shud and will be addressed to those who see their professional potential or themselves as guides, exhibition guides, or in the role of an educator, teacher, animator. Over three Tuesdays, a group of up to 10-15 people based on creative storytelling techniques will create individual as well as collective stories, scenarios for guides, whose starting point will be the exhibition Tamam Shud and the individual visual objects found within.

On the last Tuesday of September, the beginning of the last week of the exhibition, the participants will create a storytelling "jam session" multiple guided tours, composed of a dozen or so short tours around the exhibition using the method of storytelling, following the thread of storytelling through the literary labyrinth (and back) and a literary performance. Assistive and complementary forms as well as activities incorporating music, dance and movement, including selected visual objects, will be used to create literary tales and tours. The authors of the most attractive and at the same time capturing the essence of the exhibition of performance-stories will act as tour guides in subsequent Ujazdowski exhibitions as well as collaborate in further activities aimed at developing the storytelling program of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.
