Erozja. Zestaw przymiotników
On the third day of the Nobody Reads This: Art Book Fair, on Sunday 24 May 2026 at 3:00 pm, Maciej Topolski and Diana Krawiec will take part in a discussion about Erozja. Zestaw przymiotników by Kama Sokolnicka, published by Ossolineum. The meeting will be moderated by Paweł Szroniak.
Erozja. Zestaw przymiotników is a montage of fragments, visual remnants arranged into a composition rich in meaning. It consists of thirty-six interconnected images which — much like in an analogue slide projection — at times become distorted, at others sharpen or focus on a detail. In her work, Kama Sokolnicka reinterprets motifs from Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson, published in Polish by Ossolineum in 2022. The “washed-out antiquity” of ancient Greece overlaps with contemporary representations, while the conventional depictions of Geryon and Herakles — unfulfilled lovers of mythological origin — return in new configurations. The artist reworks Carson’s text in much the same way that the Canadian poet drew on Geryoneis by Stesichorus. The book is complemented by two critical essays: Marika Kuźmicz discusses the strategy of montage in Sokolnicka’s work, while Maciej Topolski reflects on the significance of the fragment in Carson’s writing.
