A depiction of a ruthless fight between two spouses who are seeking to separate and a family that is lacking in love. Boris (Aleksiej Rozin) and Zhenya (Marjana Spiwak), typical representatives of the middle-class from suburbs of Moscow, are about to separate. They cannot find a common language, and their contacts are limited to increasingly explosive arguments, in which they list their mutual resentments. They want to enter into relationships with their new partners as soon as possible. What may become an obstacle to starting a new life is their 12 year old, unwanted son Alyosha. The parents do not pay him any attention. Boris and Zhenya want to execute their plan, even if it means abandoning their child.
