The Tarta Collective

Overgrowth

The Tarta Collective exhibition is the fifth in the {Project Room} 22/23 series of presentations of the work of young artists, who were offered the chance to organise an individual exhibition at one of the most important contemporary art institutions in Poland.

The series was inaugurated in October with an exhibition by Konrad Dobrucki and followed by exhibitions of Daniel Dąbrowski, Jagoda Stączek and Zuzanna Srebrna’s work. In the 2022/2023 edition of the Project Room, we will also present the works of Agata Żołądź-Yolik Nal.

All artists were selected, following an open call, by a jury composed of: Krystyna Różańska-Gorgolewska, curator of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art (chairperson); Stanisław Brach, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw; Rafał Łubowski, professor at the University of Arts in Poznań; and Grzegorz Wnęk, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków.

Tarta Collective was established in May 2021. Its founder is Angelika Gad (Cebula) and members include: Kinga Bożkiewicz, Sebastian Duran, Iga Filimowska, and Jakub Ciosińsk, graduates of the Faculty of Art of the Pedagogical University in Kraków. Kamil Józefko is responsible for all programming, and Adam Grygierzec for sound. The group’s belongs to the genre of interactive art. Their first and main project is the web doc “Overgrowth” carried out together with the Interactive Narratives and UX vnLab Studio.

Angelika Gad

(b. 1994) graduate of Journalism at the Jagiellonian University and the Faculty of Arts of the Pedagogical University in Kraków. A UX/UI designer by trade, after hours she creates intermedia-documentary forms. She loves the Polish countryside and is interested in new technologies and their impact on art.

Kinga Bożkiewicz

(b. 1995) is a graduate of Digital Design and Art & Design. She is a fan of branding, Swiss grids, and the Polish Poster School and the co-founder of the FRAYDA project collective.

Jakub Ciosiński

(b. 1996) filmmaker, complainer, and a great aesthete. He is currently travelling to all the different film festivals in Poland to present his documentary debut. When he feels inspired, he takes black and white photos with a camera that belonged to his grandfather.

Iga Filimowska

(b. 1989) graphic designer and animator. She is interested in unusual books and – to reward herself – reads comic books and listens to fantasy. She prides herself on her allotment and, lately, has been around many dinosaurs.

Sebastian Duran

(b. 1995) graduate of Art & Design at the UP Faculty of Art in Kraków. In day-to-day life, he creates concept art for games, digital paintings, and 3D graphics.

Adam Grygierzec

composer of the sound for the exhibition, a fan of niche and noisy music. He is the drummer of post-punk bands Alyson Vane and II Fala (since 2010) and an electronic music producer, P98 (since 2018). He is a member of the Kraków-based collective, TECHNO TECHYES.
