Senyawa / sound workshop

Senyawa is an avant-garde duet from Yogyakarta in Indonesia that uses the richness of traditional, native Indonesian sounds and hand-made "garage" instruments. Senyawa combines rough, primitive sounds with ecstatic vocal experiments, creating a new quality, essentially a musical minimalism.

Their performances steep from primordial Indonesian shamanic rituals, fluctuating between trance, uncontrollable ferocity, explosive emotions and unbridled madness.
