U–jazdowski in 2020

In 2020, the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art will stage many solo exhibitions of Polish artists, an exhibition curated by the collective Slavs and Tatars, a solo presentation of Ursula Mayer, and a new exhibition of artworks from the collection chosen by audience in an online poll. We will host artists and curators in residence. We have also prepared numerous workshops and guided tours.

Exhibitions opened in 2019: Itte kaette: Back and Forth by a Japanese collective hyslom, Far Too Many Stories to Fit into so Small a Box by a Dutch duo Bik Van der Pol and The Power of Secrets by Polish artist Karol Radziszewski will all be on view till the spring of 2020.

From March till December 2020, we will have a chance to see six exhibitions by emerging Polish artists in the Project Room. We will see new works by Kornelia DzikowskaJan BaszakAdelina CimochowiczPiotr BruchSebastian Sebulec and Marek Wodzisławski.

In the summer, the art collective Slavs and Tatars will be returning to U–jazdowski — this time as curators. The exhibition Crack UpCrack Down takes a look at satire, both from a historic and a contemporary perspective, in graphics, activist interventions, memes, and via standups—from Eastern Europe to the Middle East. Satire can be moralistic but also critical; it has the power to destroy and to be revolutionary. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the 33rd Biennial of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana.

The exhibition by Ursula Mayer will look at the influence of humankind on the Earth’s electromagnetic field. It will be the artist's first solo show in Poland.

In December, we will present a solo exhibition of a Polish artist Ludwika Ogorzelec.

Collection Co-selection is an educational experiment, in which viewers will vote online to select which works from our collection will go forward to the exhibition planned for November.

There will also be a multi-format educational program tailored for audiences of all age groups.

The performative arts program will take up many diverse threads. We will present the new edition of the programme To Be Real, which tracks the connection points between contemporary art and club culture. It will cover all-night music events and more—discussions, workshops and lectures on the political dimensions of clubbing.

Numerous books will be published in 2020. One of these is an anthology of texts on contemporary performance Performance WorksWe will also have a chance to read: the second volume of Art of Liberation: Press Study by Zbigniew Libera, including materials published in the period 1998–2002; the book Things We Do Together: Post-Reader, which originated in the exhibition Gotong Royong: Things We Do Together at the turn of 2017 and 2018; the book on the Jazdów City Garden, which will not only summarise the five-year project, but will also discuss methods of working with greenery in public spacethe book Karol Radziszewski: The Power of Secrets and the next editions of the online quarterly Obieg.
