Hidden Life with The Applied Arts Award 2024

We are happy to announce that the album designed by Monika Chrabąszcz-Tarkowska for the exhibition Hidden Life. The Child in Polish Contemporary Art at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art received the Applied Arts Award 2024.

The designer's task was to create a catalogue for adults but also for children, so it has two parallel visual narratives. The project uses the concept of hypertext – one narrative proceeds linearly and the other is a kind of game – a riddle. The front cover is the beginning – the girl's braid begins there, which then turns into a kind of maze, which we follow through the pages of the book.

The Applied Arts Awards were initiated in 1992 by Applied Arts magazine, a leading voice in the visual communications industry. They are granted by a panel of industry experts, including renowned designers, art directors, art buyers, and advertising creative professionals. The judging process involves a thorough assessment of the artistic and technical aspects of the work. The Applied Arts Awards competitions covers a wide range of categories, including these and many more: creative advertising, animation, design, editorial design, environmental design, illustration, interactive media, packaging, and photography.

Awarded catalogue is available at our online bookshop.
