Heavenly student is sleeping with a man in a grave, because she has never done it before.

Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art invites you to a show of work by students from the guest studio run by Dominika Olszowy at the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Studio Sandra presents a collective performance entitled: Heavenly student is sleeping with a man in a grave, because she has never done it before.

Heavenly student sleeps with a man in a grave, because she has never done it before; when she sees him, she knows he is dead. Heavenly student is laughing, because she never thought about it, she is just doing it, and someone has to do it. A naughty angel sleeps with a man in a grave, when he sees him, he knows. In this way, he awakens demons and must undergo exorcisms. Falling in love, kissing, sleeping, getting married, dying. Each step is met with resistance, especially on the part of the elder uncle. Only later, once she has seven children with three different men, she finally breaks down and realizes what she has done. In another story, we read about a tradition in which an ancient beast is brought back to life by its namesake and in this relationship the student and the beast sleep together and imagine a mysterious goddess pretending to be the devil. The heavenly student sleeps with a man in a grave, because she has never done it before. What do they have in common? None of them is dead, honestly, they both have spent their whole life living and enjoying it.

Sandra Art Gallery was established in 2008, by students who sought an enclave within the institutional landscape of art and a grassroots platform for cooperation with other artists, or more precisely with female artists. Initially, it only carried out projects involving women, but eventually it became co-educational. The ephemeral Sandra is autonomous and selfless, has no permanent location or structure, ignores institutional and market mechanisms, appears and disappears depending on needs. It is not bound by the rigors of good taste, correctness or seriousness. Sandra's choices are not based on calculation, but on bonds of friendship, intuition, and enthusiastic cooperation

In 2019, three young curators: Magdalena Adameczek, Ola Polerowicz, and Tomek Pawłowski took control of Sandra and implemented an annual programme focused on cooperation with young female artists from Poznań. With the arrival of the Year of the Rat, they term is coming to an end.

In 2020, Sandra was handed over to the students from a guest workshop at the painting department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. They will implement a programme based on collaboration and joint collective creation of spaces, in which young artists will fulfill their dreams, needs, and ideas about art

Sandra's previous activities include exhibitions: Majtki [Panties] (Łazarz, 2008), Będzie laska w Galerii Sandra (Jeżyce, 2010), Sandra Salon / Prestiż i Styl [Sandra Salon / Prestige and Style] (Warsaw, 2013), Horsefuckers Moped Club (Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, 2015) and Festiwal Performance Na Patelni [Performance Festival at the Frying Pan] (2015).
