Who run the world(s)? Jenna Sutela’s exquisite exploration of intergalactic, trans-bodily travel posits that it may, most likely, be bacteria on whom the matter of life developing or ending ultimately depends. As a woman eats fermented soybeans, she enables the existence of a microcosm within herself, becoming a vessel for a primordial soup. With echoes of Ursula K. le Guin’s theories, this short film proposes an alternative way of looking at evolution and connecting our bodily selves with the outer space.
