[Cafarnaúm], directed by Nadine Labaki, Lebanon/USA 2018, 121'
The powerful emotional charge detonated by Nadine Labaki leaves no one indifferent. Her film absorbs, shakes, moves—and it happens, that it brings some to tears. This is not only due to the fantastic script, but also due to the lead actor – Zain Al Rafeea. This small refugee from Syria played a boy in the film who launches a lawsuit against his own parents for not being able to provide him with a dignified life. Awarded with the Jury Prize at Cannes, Capernaum provoked the loudest and longest ovation during the festival.
