For many years, Indonesian director Joko Anwar dreamed about making a remake of Pengabdi Setan – a classic horror film of cult renown in his native country. He set the action of his film in 1981, which is emphasized by perfectly chosen costumes and hairstyles, but the story of a haunted house, Satan and zombies is realized in an exceptionally contemporary fashion.
