Level Five

directed by Chris Marker, 1996, 105'

Marker thought of himself more as an artist and poet using various mediums than a filmmaker. In the 1990s, he was fascinated by new technologies and multimedia, which is reflected in Level Five. The story of Laura, who must finish the video Battle of Okinawa, created by her deceased beloved, surprised with its visual minimalism. This film is the result of Markers travels around Japan. The film stars Nagisa Oshima, director of the famous In the Realm of the Senses.
