The Lovely Month of May

[Le joli mai], directed by Chris Marker, 1963, 165'

An epic, beautiful as well as bitter anti-postcard from Paris. Instead of showing the charm of Frances capital, Marker undermines its mythology. He approaches people on the street, visits them inside their homes, and gives them a voice. He challenges the stereotypical beliefs about the great importance of culture and art in the lives of these residents.
