Raoul Peck uses unpublished passages from the unfinished book of James Baldwin, a famous Afro-American novelist and essayist, and a rich selection of archival film and photo material, to tell the story of racial segregation, persecution, and the fight for the rights of African-Americans in the US. The film was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary Feature.
