Sauvage
directed by Camille Vidal-Naquet, France 2018, 97' (English friendly)
Léo lives on the streets and in order to survive, he meets men for money. His closest friend is also a prostitute, but because he is stronger, he can defend him against other boys or dangerous clients. Léo would love for their friendship to become something more, but in their world, however, there is no room for such feelings. Sauvage becomes a very interesting voice in the current discussion about balance or the conflict between the needs of freedom and safety. At the same time, the film leaves behind the political perspective and concentrates on the psychology of the individual decisions of the heroes. The film, presented at Cannes during the Critics’ Week, is based on real relationships.
