Triangle of Sadness
directed by Ruben Östlund, Sweden / UK / France / Germany 2022, 150' (English friendly)
- The Palme d’Or-winning frantic comedy set on a luxury yacht among the world’s richest people. An ocean of champagne, a sea of money and a captain who always goes against the tide (a wild performance by Woody Harrelson) – and so begins the voyage of our time.
- Among the passengers is a celebrity couple: model Carl (Harris Dickinson) and influencer Yaya (Charlbi Dean), but their trip quickly stops being Instagrammable. A sudden storm destroys the yacht and, with it, shatters the entire social hierarchy. This extremely funny film by Ruben Östlund (Force Majeure, The Square), one of Europe’s best directors, is a merciless satire on the rich, as well as a ruthless metaphor for the modern age. We are all sailing on a ship that has long since set a course for disaster. Is laughter our only hope now?
