The Whale

directed by Darren Aronofsky, USA 2022, 117' (English friendly)

  • The latest film from Darren Aronofsky (creator of Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan) that enthralled audiences and critics at the Venice Film Festival with an exceptional performance by Brendan Fraser and a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination.
    • For years, Charlie has been living away from the external world. He is trapped in a small flat by morbid obesity. Rejected – not without reason – by his loved ones, he is heading alone into an abyss. Suddenly, one impulse, one encounter, gives him a spark of hope. Charlie tries to reconnect with his long-lost teenage daughter. He’s well aware it will be an incredibly difficult encounter and that he risks losing his last illusion. However, he is willing to take that risk, believing there is still a chance of redemption for him too.
