Crimes of the Future
directed by David Cronenberg, Canada / Greece / France / UK 2022, 107'
In the near future, humans are experiencing accelerated evolution syndrome. In order to deal with the new reality dominated by technology, they have to transform not only their minds but also their bodies. Hungry for new, stronger stimuli, they are increasingly daring to experiment with their own physicality, pushing the biological limits of their own endurance. Shocking surgical practices involving the implantation of new organs are becoming hugely popular. Saul Tenser is a famous performance artist who decides to turn his own accelerated evolution into a multimedia show. With the help of his partner Caprice and in front of the audience, he transforms his body in increasingly bold ways, seeking new forms of pleasure. In the pursuit of popularity, he decides to take a shocking step that could stop him from ever returning to his old life.
