Conversations with emerging Polish architects and architects
Idea and management of the meetings: TŁO
  • Architecture and the climate crisis. Social housing. Design as speculation and experiment. What are young architects all about?

We are continuing the series of meetings with selected architectural studios, which will talk about their work ethos, selected projects, how they find their place on the local architectural scene, what being progressive means to them and how they manage to survive in difficult professional and economic circumstances.

The guest of the next meeting will be the Archigrest studio from Warsaw, which designs spaces on every scale: interiors, houses, offices, housing estates, parks and districts. Archigrest, together with the topoScape landscape architecture studio, designed the park under the Warsaw Uprising Mound, which won many awards, including the Grand Prix in the 10th edition of the Architectural Award of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw. The studio is eager to engage in research projects or educational activities.

The meetings will not be recorded or broadcast, because we want to have an honest conversation and hear each other. Thanks to simultaneous translations also available in English.

The idea for the series came from the Warsaw studio TŁO led by Michał Sikorski, which uses the work of urban planners and landscape architects in its architectural design. It creates buildings and public spaces. The studio published a research paper on the space of university campuses, and also prepared the exhibition Poetics of Necessity in the Polish pavilion at the London Design Biennale in 2023. In December 2024, the studio won the international competition for the reconstruction and expansion of the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław.
