Meeting with Olga Micińska
-
How – and from what – is the world built? Where does function end and form begin – when is an object necessary, and when does it become symbolic?
- In the next Live meeting, we will talk with Olga Micińska – a sculptor, carpenter, and educator who explores the relationship between physical labour, craftsmanship, and imagination. Her work grows out of a fascination with materials – particularly wood – and from a deep need for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Micińska combines the practical dimension of craft with imaginative storytelling, creating situations of cooperation, sharing, and collective care for both material and immaterial resources.
- As the founder of the experimental platform The Building Institute, she redefines the traditional model of apprenticeship – creating a space for growth and empowerment for people marginalised within the fields of craft and construction.
- Her works have been shown internationally, including at Tale of a Tub (Netherlands), EVA International (Ireland), Gwangju Biennale (South Korea), the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, West (Netherlands), Polana Institute and Museum of Warsaw (Poland), Marwan Amsterdam, and Thkio Ppalies (Cyprus).

-
Every week, we meet live with artists to talk about art: creative processes, works, and current experiences.
-
We host both artists who have previously taken part in Ujazdowski Castle’s programme and those making their debut. In this series, we would like to focus on individual approaches and artistic practices.
-
- Why take part?
- In times of tensions and crises, thinking and talking together about contemporary art – which responds to today’s challenges in unconventional ways – helps strengthen social resilience. Art is not only the object – just as important are the process, the thinking, the emotions, and the relationships that accompany it. The meetings offer a closer look at how art is created and, most importantly, who creates it.
- The meetings are open to everyone, from people working professionally in culture and art, to those who are curious about artists and their work, or simply want to talk about art.
- The events will be recorded for archival purposes, and the recordings will be made available online through the Mediateka.
