De Rerum Natura (The Call of Infinity)

Jarosław Faliński and Edward Łazikowski
  • Everything is a fragment. There is no whole. There is no beginning or end. A versatile artist, Edward Łazikowski creates drawings in wood dust. They disappear when the wind blows. The film De Rerum Natura. The Call of Infinity, directed by Jarosław Faliński, presents a performance by Łazikowski, where he draws in dust, records the work, and then ritually destroys it. The artist and the author of the film are interested in notions of impermanence, transience, and re-emergence, always in different forms, without beginning or end. Łazikowski has developed a theory and practice of art focused on the infinite divisibility of the world’s particles, on chance and the non-existence of an end. In the film, he pays tribute to movement, the most powerful phenomenon in the universe.
