The End of Secrets
X-Philes (Rafał Domagała, Maja Gomulska, Bartosz Jakubowski, Gabriela Sułkowska)
- The End of Secrets supplements the Castle space with a queer-poetry mobile reading room. Remembering the last exhibition organized by the institution that touched on queer themes, Karol Radziszewski’s The Power of Secrets, the X-Philes collective is moving away from the strategy of self-historization to broaden its context with a contemporary, non-hierarchical, collective voice of the community.
- The core of the project is an installation located in the Ujazdowski Castle library. The object resembles a piece of furniture that combines the functions of a library catalogue, a bookshelf, and a reading-and-writing chair. It is a compact, mobile reading room. The structure contains publications on queer poetry and a scattered archive of the collective itself. The installation is meant to evolve during the project and be supplemented with more books, personal notebooks, loose notes, and objects provided by visitors.
- Two workshops will be held on the opening weekend of the installation.
- The first one (11 January) is a poetry writing class led by Tomek Gromadka. Using creative writing techniques, as well as their own and shared experiences and inspirations, the participants will create texts that will then enrich the reading room.
- Limited number of places. Registration required.

- The second of the planned workshops (12 January) will be led by members of X-Philes and will be devoted to the collective’s practice of translating poetry into visual language. Texts brought or created on site will become the basis for the joint creation of graphics. The effects of the classes will be works that – like the poetic texts before – will be added to the installation, changing its shape.
