Velvet flowers & melting views

Magic Wands is an artistic collective of Marta Szewczyk and Monika Proniewska. Previously, the artists conducted research on organic forms, publishing limited editions of art books under the label Massif Zines.

Currently, in the photo book Velvet flowers & melting views they continue this line of research. By juxtaposing analogue photographs, the artists follow their intuition. Objects taken out of their original context, often resized, out of focus, produce a collective dream in which the boundaries between personal and shared experience are blurred. Places and objects are endowed with a poetic and surreal dimension here. The book touches upon issues of reminiscences, memory, and unreal spaces. Accompanying the photographs is a text by the writer Maria Karpińska.
