Robert Mainka

In search of the lost temple: Notes to an original adventure film

Robert Mainka

(born 1990 in Rybnik) – student at the National Film School in Łódź. The artist employs multimedia activities (e.g. photography, painting, video, literature) for the exploration of possible film material. The artist constructs stories from sequences of improvised drawings, to which Mainka creates illustrations, which he in turn uses as a draft for photography, whose detail becomes the subject of video works and so on. Through this process, the used media enrich each other, and the artistic vision crystallizes. The aim of the artist is to create the most complete description of life through cinema. Mainka presented the series "Lavish Fields" at the International Festival of Photography in Łódź in 2014. The artist realized all the ideas that came to his mind, without evaluating them. This resulted in a varied collection of metaphorical images. "Lavish Fields" were recognized in the competition reGeneration³: Tomorrow's Photographers Today, organized by the Musee d'Elysee in Lausanne, where Mainka will present his works as one of the best intriguing photographers of the younger generation in the world. Currently, the artist is working on several film projects, including shorts such as "Izabella Tenebracka, the most beautiful girl in the world" and "Oh, unbelievers!," as well as on the full-length films "Theodore" and "In Search of the Lost Temple."
