Ecological drifting with Zuzanną Szymłowską
12/08/2024, 19:30

As part of the Common Field project, we invite you to take part in Ecological Drifting with the current resident of U-jazdowski, Zuzanna Szymłowska. We will delve into a small area of the Warsaw Escarpment adjacent to the Ujazdowski Castle, a seemingly inaccessible space.

Using naturalist methods — joint reflection and the experience of being — we will attune ourselves to the biotic surroundings of the Warsaw Escarpment and open ourselves to surprising presences and dependencies, initially imperceptible to the eye and ear. During the expedition, we will collectively develop an alternative map of the organisms and habitats present around the Ujazdowski Castle, as well as exchange knowledge, experience, and feelings.

Zuzanna Szymłowska is a graduate of the Faculty of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she also obtained her education at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In her practice, inspired by observations, she tries to activate materials to cooperate with the organisms inhabiting them. Her activities also include initiatives related to building relationships between humans and non-human beings by involving neighbours in creative processes.
