Screening of ewelina węgiel’s videos
The event is a part of the long-term project The Common Field by the U–jazdowski Residencies.
ewelina węgiel takes on the role of a documentary filmmaker, only to abandon it at the first opportunity. Aware of the clear rules of documentary forms, both the protagonists of her films and herself start the process with confidence — at first, the goal is to collect as much information as possible. However, they quickly discard rational ways of documentary thinking and what they have gathered in the first stage of the project. ewelina lives and works in Eastern Europe, as she finds herself able to map and follow only the local phantoms.
On 19/08 you will be able to see the alliance she has made with the Bełchatów Coal Mine, the Parishioners of the Ark of the Lord Church, the performers from the Hot Compost group, the incinerator, the Polish preppers, Wiesław Orłowski, the Bear Cave. Together with them, she explored intuitions, ways of survival, and instincts in the reality after the end of the world.
The screening will be followed by a meeting with the artist, hosted by Marianna Dobkowska.
