Anca Benera (Romania)

Anca Benera

In her book Warsaw Wild Life: Notes, artist provides a unique documentary on the city she lived in as an artist-in-residence. The subjects of her observations are the lives of Warsaw's wild animals - familiar from gossip, tales, legends and research reports. Adaptation of wild animals to a specific urban environment is an ecological fact, though, as Benera shows in her notes, trailing a moose from the Ursus district, beavers from the Vistula River, a warthog from Kabaty neighborhood, a falcon from the Palace of Culture and Science and other wild animals allows us to question the overt nature of urban public space. We are not alone here.
