Iaroslava-Mariia Khomenko (Ярослава-Марія Хоменко) (Ukraine)

Iaroslava-Mariia Khomenko

fashion designer and artist born in 1988 in Kyiv, Ukraine. In 2010, she graduated from the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Over the past decade, the main theme of her research has been upcycling. Her last project uses irreparable clothing and textiles from humanitarian aid. The project reflects on the idea of renewal that will take place following the destruction brought by Russia’s invasion. As a part of the project, Iaroslava invites local citizens to join the creative process, i.e., bring their old and damaged clothing, and take part in making the artwork.

Iaroslava-Mariia Khomenko is a founder of RCR KHOMENKO (2011) and project XOMEHKO (2019).

This residency is organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in partnership with culture.pl, Zachęta National Gallery of Art and the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. With special thanks to Meta Compa
