Deirdre O’Mahony (Ireland)
Deirdre O’Mahony (1956) has been making work across sculpture, painting, installation and participatory projects for over 30 years. At the centre of this work is her interest in the politics of landscape, rural/urban relationships, rural sustainability, and food security.
Notable recent solo exhibitions include The Quickening at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (2024), The Model Plot (2025) at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, FARMWORK (2025) at Void Art Centre, Derry and BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD SPACE (2025) at VISUAL, Carlow. Group exhibitions include The Gleaners Society Club, Haus für Medienkunst, Oldenburg, Germany and Soil & Friends, Ujazdowski Castle CCA, Warsaw.
She has been awarded Arts Council of Ireland Awards and a Pollock-Krasner Fellowship (1995) and her work is in the Arts Council of Ireland and the Irish Museum of Modern Art collections. Academic awards include St Martins School of Art, London, (BA); Crawford College, Cork (MRes.) and the University of Brighton (PhD).
