residency: June-July
Konrad Fleszar (Poland)
- Born in the Bieszczady Mountains, architect, artist and researcher specialising in post-anthropocentric design and the integration of vegetation in urban spaces. Graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Krakow University of Technology (engineering and master's degrees) and the Faculty of Art at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow (master's degree). Currently, a PhD student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and a postgraduate student of landscape architecture, where he conducts research on the boundaries of human living space and photosynthetic organisms in the urban environment. His creative and scientific work encompasses architecture, landscape architecture and fine arts, with a particular focus on biodesign, biomimetics, regenerative and speculative design. He studies the relationship between urbanisation processes and biodiversity, seeking new design methods that redefine the coexistence of human and non-human organisms in urban structures. Working at the intersection of science, art and ecology, he develops experimental models of usable spaces in which vegetation is not mere decoration, but an active participant in the urban ecosystem. His projects combine design theory with architectural practice, pointing to alternative strategies for shaping the environment that transcend traditional anthropocentric thinking about space.
