Liera Polianskova (Ukraine)
Liera Polіanskova is a Ukrainian artist and curator working at the intersection of new media, sound, and video art. Her practice also includes installation, performance, and photography.
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, she studied theatre history and theory at the Kharkiv National University of Arts. From 2004 to 2009, she worked as an actress with the theatre-studio Arabesky.
In 2008, together with Max Robotov, she co-founded the SVITER art group, originally focused on sound and musical experimentation. Later, in collaboration with artist Ivan Svitlychnyi, Liera and Max launched the independent curatorial platform Exposition Environment Shukhliada. In 2018, the same team founded Photinus — a community and school dedicated to the development of new media art in Ukraine — as well as the audiovisual project _mediaklub.
From 2019 to 2022, she was co-author and lecturer of the New Media Art course at the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts.
Liera’s work has been exhibited including at the 57th Venice Biennale (Ukrainian Pavilion), Ars Electronica Festival 2022 (Linz, Austria).
