Phoebe-Lin Elnan (Switzerland)
Phoebe-Lin Elnan (*1993) is a Norwegian-Singaporean artist and curator based in Geneva, Switzerland. She writes and often performs with and/or about food, using absurd humour and parody. From a macro perspective, she is interested in commodification and desire-making, the parallels between the mechanisms of financial capitalism and survival (of some people at the cost of others) in a context of ecological collapse. She is also curious about how capitalist and colonial values and systems are perpetuated and anchored in our collective psyche; how social norms and perspectives are internalised as intrinsic motivations that influence interpersonal relationships and everyday choices and actions, shaping the way we navigate the world.
Having worked within the intersection of art and ecology since 2018, she approaches both food and environment with a decolonial and anticapitalist lens. Recent collaborations include the co-coordination of Ways of Repair: Loss & Damage (2023-2025), an artistic research residency and trans-disciplinary program on the topic of climate change-induced loss and damage, and Making Kin, Making Place (2023-2025), a series of exhibitions and residencies curated with the as slow as possible collective at Espace 3353 in Geneva.
The residency is funded thanks to financial support from the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
