ZAKOLE
Residency as part of the Common Field project
ZAKOLE (The Bend) is a project rooted in the Warsaw wetland. The Wawer Bend encompasses both a picturesque, mostly inaccessible swamp and vast meadows. Gradually getting to know this place together with its diverse inhabitants and visitors, we recognize and map its meanings. Working with people from the fields of natural sciences, art, philosophy, activism, and administration, we look for ways to experience and talk about these types of spaces and ecosystems, as well as listen to the voices of the beings who make them what they are.
ZAKOLE are Zuzia Derlacz, Krysia Jędrzejewska-Szmek, Aleksandra Knychalska, Olga Roszkowska, and Pola Salicka, but we consider this an open project; we are interested in broad alliances and cooperation with actors interested in the future of the Wawer Bend and in developing a new language and cognitive tools around it. We hope that these efforts will lead to the formation of a community that cares for this place.
