The catalogue My Own Cinema offers a retrospective insight into Józef Robakowski’s artistic practice, perceived from two different, and intersecting, perspectives: of “expanded cinema” and “own cinema.” On the one hand, it is a survey of his role in the neo-avant-garde experiment of the 1970s, as a co-founder of the Workshop of the Film Form (1970–1977), a key reference for successive generations of new media artists and researchers. On the other hand, it is a presentation of an artist building up his own, unique position according to the idea of “own cinema”, increasingly personal.
