Minna Suoniemi
Safe Area
This booklet was created in conjunction with the Safe Area exhibition, realised as a result of the Finnish artist Minna Suoniemi's residency stay at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. The exhibition at the Okna Gallery included recordings from industrial cameras, the lenses of which tracked the artist's every move during her stay at the Ujazdowski Castle. It is a peculiar story about her living in Warsaw. The wide-angle frame and the unique, rough quality of the film make ordinary activities take on strange meanings. A walk through the castle corridors is disturbing and filled with horror. The curator of the residency was Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka, and the texts for the brochure were written by: Taru Elfving, Ika Sienkiewicz-Nowacka, Minna Suoniemi.
