The Residents #1
The Residents magazine stems from the need to meet and discover the work of the otherwise invisible residents of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, artists coming from different parts of the world, working in various mediums – photography, performance, sound installation, opera. Artistic residencies do not always end with a spectacular event that can be open to the public, so the work and the presence of residents can remain hidden. And yet these artists live and work in Warsaw for two, three, sometimes even six months. A bulletin and series of portraits with the same title – The Residents, are intended not only to capture this special time of residency, but also to provide an opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, collaborate, and make friends.
The first issue of The Residents bulletin presents artists who visited Warsaw and lived in U–jazdowski in autumn 2018: Nikita Kadan, Kem collective, Graziela Kunsh, Lina Lapelytė, Melissa Tun Tun. The photographs were taken by Karolina Zajączkowska, interviews were conducted by Alek Hudzik, graphic design is by Krzysztof Bielecki.
