The Residents #4
The Residents magazine stems from the need to discover the work of the otherwise invisible residents of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.
The fourth issue of the magazine presents artists involved in the project Everyday Forms of Resistance. Karolina Grzywnowicz, Joanna Rajkowska, and Jaśmina Wójcik were on residencies in Palestine and carried out projects there. Mohammad Saleh, a permaculturist, designer, and educator, and the artist and chef Mirna Bamieh were on a residency in Warsaw. They were all interviewed by Bogna Świątkowska, who has accompanied their research from the outset. The interviews shed light on the complex context of living and working in Palestine, where the social and political imaginations, as well as art, draw on everyday practices of care - for nature and for relations with the fellow human beings. It is these practices that the artists see as a source of hope if dignity is to be reasserted. While in Warsaw, they all also met with the photographer Witek Orski, who took their portraits.
