The Residents magazine stems from the need to discover the work of the otherwise invisible residents of the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art.
The fifth issue of the magazine took almost a year to complete. In it, readers will find interviews conducted by Dominik Skrzypkowski, Michał Grzegorzek, and Mateusz Szymanówka with the residents who worked at the Ujazdowski Castle between the autumn of 2019 and the summer of 2020.
Nagi Gianni, Iza Szostak, Mohamed Almusibli, and Nils Amadeus Lange conducted research, created works and events, and collaborated with local artists. Their intimate conversations with collaborating curators enable to see some complex and often concealed contexts within their practice.
The four exceptional residencies were the fruit of the close collaboration between curators in charge of two U–jazdowski units: the Performing Arts Department and the Artist Residencies Department. The residents’ stays were documented by Katarzyna Szugajew, who besides being a photographer is also a performer.
