The Unfinished Reconstruction of Ujazdowski Castle
For Lewis & Taggart, the unfinished reconstruction of Ujazdowski Castle began shortly after their arrival in Warsaw in the spring 2012. Upon discovering several thousand identical postcards depicting the castle in the late 1980s, they set to work transforming the image into an alternate vision of the castle‘s continuous evolution. Repeatedly dissected, reconfigured, layered upon one another the postcards re-emerged as a collection of collages, sculptures an assemblages, each extending the potential for metamorphosis embedded within its place of origin. The publication comprises a selection of 151 works created between March 15th and May 5th, 2012, presented in the order in which they were made.
