Gender – a prototype of a new man?

Promotional event for the recently published monograph

Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art invites to a discussion panel around the publication Gender – a prototype of a new man? edited by Bogna Białecka, prof. Jacek Kowalski and dr Witold Miedziak, published this year by the Poznań Society of Friends of Learning.

During the event, current cultural, historical, psychological, linguistic and economic perspectives on the concept of gender will be discussed. The debate will be attended by dr hab. Lidia Banowska (philologist, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), prof. dr hab. Piotr Juszkiewicz (art historian, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), dr. Andrzej Margasiński (psychologist) and dr. Natalia Zimniewicz (expert on media). The discussion will be chaired by dr. Piotr Bernatowicz.

“Thanks to its interdisciplinary character, the monograph Gender – a prototype of a new man? might be of interest to historians, sociologists, educators, psychologists, but also doctors, philosophers, and economists. The broad formula of essays by experts from various fields of knowledge provides an interesting and comprehensive view of gender. [...] What proves the originality of the reviewed monograph is the collocation of critical views noting numerous dangers also in the field of human spirituality and of entire communities. It is a kind of counterbalance to the positive reception of gender that is prevailing in the modern world.”

(from the review by dr hab. Adam Czabański from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Medical University of Medical Sciences in Poznań)
