for organized groups from secondary schools

  • All workshops are in Polish.
  •
  • Dont be anxious  a few words about the controversy
    • Does contemporary art feed on scandal? Why is there so much controversy surrounding the work of contemporary artists? What outrages the audience the most? Is the artist allowed everything? In their work, artists often confront themselves and viewers with difficult, reprehensible, controversial topics. The workshop has been developed as a guide to various forms of artistic expression. Students get the chance to learn about and understand contemporary art. The workshop includes a lively discussion using critical texts.
  •
  • Workshop about the workshop
    • What is the most important thing in a work of art? Is it its subject? Quality? The artists message? And what about the material from which it is made? The workshop aims to show the relationship between the finished work of art, the materials used to create and the technique used. It stimulates reflection on the relationship between the artistic medium and our impressions and the reception of the artwork. It allows students to learn about the materials and techniques used by contemporary artists.
    •
  • The language of art
    • Based on the work presented at current exhibitions at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, workshop participants will learn about the language used by contemporary art. The workshop encourages reflection and teaches the basic principles of analysing a work of art.
  •
  • Marble or plastic?
    • What is the definition of kitsch? Is it still valid? What place does kitsch occupy in contemporary art? How does popular culture creep into high art and vice versa? Students will review colourful examples from the history of modern art to reflect on and discuss the aesthetics of kitsch and its place in art. As part of the workshop, students will create collages on the border of kitsch, and maybe... art?
  •
  • Weft and warp
What is a fabric? What remains of it when we take it apart? It has accompanied us for centuries. How has its role changed over the centuries? During the class we will not only learn interesting things about fabric, but we will also try to make it ourselves.
