Alt-Right: Age of Rage
directed by Adam Bhala Lough, USA 2017, 106' (English friendly)
- When, on 12 August 2017, James Alex Fields Jr. drove his car into a group of demonstrators protesting against a march by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, the entire world was introduced to the term Alt-Right, referring to the extreme—or literally the so-called alternative—right. By winning the trust of the movement’s informal leaders, director Adam Bhala Lough attempts to explain the phenomenon of the normalization and growing popularity of xenophobic and racist attitudes in the United States. Is it possible that in a country marked indelibly by slavery torch marches and the chanting of slogans straight out of Nazi Germany can move beyond the margins of political life?
