Arab Blues
[Un divan a Tunis], directed by Manele Labidi, Tunisia/France 2019, 88'
The comedy Arab Blues reminds us that returning home is not always easy. This is the case of Tunisian-born, French-raised Selma, who decides to return to her birth country and open a clinic specialising in psychoanalysis. However, it soon turns out that not only is no one waiting for her there, but that both her profession and lifestyle seem a bit suspicious even to her closest relatives. Cultural differences generate a series of mistakes and misunderstandings which debuting director Manele Labidi zestfully defuses with humour.
