A White, White Day
[Hvítur, Hvítur Dagur], directed by Hlynur Pálmason, Denmark/Iceland/Sweden 2019, 109'
‘When the earth meets the sky and everything is white, the dead can talk to those still living’, goes an Icelandic saying. On one such day, the wife of a former police officer dies – falling off a cliff in a speeding car. Left alone in the aftermath, the man tries to begin his life anew and find out who he is now. When he discovers a secret about his deceased wife, it arouses strong emotions in him for the first time in a long time. From now on, he will do everything to learn the truth about their shared past. A White, White Day is a story of regret, revenge, and unconditional love shrouded in Icelandic fog.
