The latest work from the director of Shoplifters , Hirokazu Koreeda, is at the same time the first film in his career shot outside of his native Japan. A masterfully intimate story about the search for truth, love, and family happiness. Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve) is a grande dame of cinema. Soon after she publishes her intimate memoirs, her daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) arrives in Paris from New York with her husband (Ethan Hawke) and child. The reunion of mother and daughter quickly turns into a fierce confrontation, during which love and old grievances will collide, and the truth – hidden for years – will finally see the light of day.
