The Taste of Pho
directed by Mariko Bobrik, Poland/Germany 2019, 84’ (English friendly)
Ten-year-old Maja doesn’t want her classmates to see the lunch she brings to school every morning. It is prepared by her father, a Vietnamese chef and a pho specialist who is trying to find his feet in Warsaw. When his long-time boss returns to his home country, he will have to face the demands of a new restaurant owner. Mastering new culinary skills, however, turns out to be less of a challenge than bringing up an increasingly mature and extremely perceptive daughter as a single parent.
